VILLAVICENCIO




Villavicencio is a city and municipality in Colombia, capital of the Department of Meta, with 361,058 inhabitants. The city is located at 4°08S, 73°40W, 75 km (about 45 m) southeast of the Colombian capital city of Bogotá  by the Guatiquía river. It is also known colloquially as "Villavo".
Lying in a rural zone of tropical climate, Villavicencio is on the great Colombian-Venezuelan plain called Los Llanos, which is situated to the east of the Andes mountains. Villavicencio is also called "La Puerta al Llano," or "The Gate to the Llanos," due to its location on the historical path from the Colombian interior to the vast savannas that lie between the Andes range and the Amazon rainforest.




 PLACES TO VISIT

In Villavicencio, you can visit the different places cultural, these places are:





     Park fundadores: this park is the most big of Villavicencio, covers six hectares.




     Alto de menegua: this place is of vital importance for two powerful reasons: It is the geographic center of Colombia, and your location allows appreciate one of the best views of the plains, in the winter we can appreciate the river Meta and the summer we can appreciate the beautiful sunrises and sunsets.




 Monument to Christ the King: is located over the hills, is the tourist viewpoint.




    Park las Malocas: is the ideal place for approach with the culture of the eastern plains; present the work plainsman this is the coleus and we can find the manners and plainsman experiences.




TYPICAL FOOD

the typical food is  the ternera a la llanera or mamona, this prepares in a clay oven, others plates specials are the hallaca, tamales, these fillers with meat and vegetables.
